Building Green is important to us.
Building green is a core value that Coultas brings to every project especially where remodeling is concerned. Using carefully selected components and top-quality recycled building materials, he works to ensure that each project will be completed with the minimum total impact on the environment. As a member of the Remodelors Council of the Homebuilders Association of Kitsap County, he is also an active participant in the Built Green Program.
In my view, its just a shame if a client has wood available in their home during a remodel and doesnt reuse it, Coultas declares. On many remodel jobs, theres lots of top-quality, hard to find, materials that are easy to recycle, helping to preserve our environment. Some things, like fir beams for example, can be re-cut and reused in different places. This not only saves the owner the cost of expensive new materials, but in many instances the quality of the original material is often superior to whats available today. This helps conserve our natural resources at the same time, and in my book, thats a win-win situation.
He encourages environmentally conscious clients to especially look at things like doors and windows even if they come from other sources that can be refinished and reused. They often have an elegance and style that can add to their home and in some cases create a rather unique and dramatic effect because many of those kinds of materials are no longer available.
